You're not alone!

PhD's around the country are struggling
to connect their skills with job opportunities

Tackling today's toughest challenges requires smart people trained in analytic thinking and technical know-how. STEM PhD's possess these skills (and more), but too many are siloed by their expertise and left behind in the job market.

During my own PhD, I saw many students struggle to secure jobs after graduation. According the National Science Foundation , this is far from unusual:

Percent doctoral graduates with a definite employment commitment for the coming year (including postdocs). Data from the National Science Foundation

Nearly 40% of STEM PhD's surveyed in 2016 didn't have a job lined up (in academia or anywhere else) before graduating. There is an apparent disconnect between the value gained from a graduate education and the skills sought after by employers.

Here at Savvy Science Careers, I've created resources that help bridge that gap. You'll find resources that help translate your academic acheivements into language that industry, non-profits, and government hiring professionals will understand. These resources aim to help STEM PhD's understand and take control of their own value, and launch our brightest minds into meaningful, fulfilling careers that benefit society.

Founder of Savvy Science Careers

I hold a PhD in Geophysics and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University, and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. Following my PhD, I worked in industry, academia, non-profits, and the government on topics that span science, engineering, and policy.

I've found that the skills I learned earning my STEM degrees have been vital for each of the positions I've held, and I'm passionate about helping other STEM PhD graduates connect with career opportunities they may not even know are possible.
